"My tendency to make up stories and lie compulsively for the sake of my own amusement takes up a good portion of my day and provides me with a peace of mind not easily attainable in this economic climate."--Chelsea Handler, from Chapter 10 of Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang
It's no lie: Chelsea Handler loves to smoke out "dumbassness," the condition people suffer from that allows them to fall prey to her brand of complete and utter nonsense. Friends, family, co-workers--they've all been tricked by Chelsea into believing stories of total foolishness and into behaving like total fools. Luckily, they've lived to tell the tales and, for the very first time, write about them."
Let me start out by saying that there is a lot of mature content in many of these pages. This is NOT a young adult book and probably shouldn't be read by a person who finds immature people and pranks, well, immature. The majority of this book is about pranks and or lies gone awry and the random things that Chelsea Handler does when she is bored.
I picked up this book because I watch Chelsea Lately--Chelsea Handler's late night show on E! Entertainment. On Chelsea Lately, Chelsea and friends are always talking about the random dumb things that they do together. Being a very curious individual, I had to know more about Chelsea, and if theses things that Chelsea and friends were always talking about were, indeed, true. Lies That Chelsea Handler Told Me was an entertaining book, and although some of the entries were poorly written, the stories were priceless and definitely gave me an insight into what Chelsea Handler and friends enjoy doing when they are bored. This compilation of stories was very lighthearted in an oh-crap-this-is-serious kind of way. I now know that if I am ever in the presence of Chelsea Handler, I should never leave my computer unlocked, or leave my phone unattended because bad things tend to happen when Chelsea is around various forms of communication.
Overall, this book was a 3.5/5, because while the stories were entertaining, some of them didn't flow well together but the book was entertaining enough for a 3 day read.

The Surgeon -- Tess Gerritsen
I found this book accidentally while searching for the season two premiere of Rizzoli and Isles. Some of you may not know what that is, so I'll inform you. Rizzoli and Isles is a TV show based on the Rizzoli and Isles series written by Tess Gerritsen. The books include;

As you can probably tell from the excerpt above, this book is would be categorized as mystery/crime/horror-ish. Basically what happens is this woman--Catherine Cordell--is brutally attacked by a man named Andrew Capra and ends up killing him. After the attack Catherine moves to Boston and starts a new life as a surgeon. Things are going well, until women start getting attacked again in the exact same way that Andrew Capra would attack his victims. Detective Jane Rizzoli, the only woman in the homicide unit at Boston Police Department, attempts to prove herself as a capable Detective by attempting to track down this new killer, nicknamed "The Surgeon" for the precise way that he attacks women. (I'm not sure if I want to go into detail as to how he attacks women because it's kind of graphic and this is a book geared more towards adults, so you're just going to have to read the book and find out.) Throughout this book you will find betrayal, lies, scandal, and some life-altering information on some primal human urges which lead to new discoveries and views on the human race. This is a definite must read for those interested in crime and criminal behavior.

He slips into homes at night and walks silently into bedrooms where women lie sleeping, about to awaken to a living nightmare. The precision of his methods suggest that he is a deranged man of medicine, prompting the Boston newspapers to dub him "The Surgeon." Led by detectives Thomas Moore and Jane Rizzoli, the cops must consult the victim of a nearly identical crime: Two years ago, Dr. Catherine Cordell fought back and killed an attacker before he could complete his assault. Now this new killer is re-creating, with chilling accuracy, the details of Cordell's ordeal. With every new murder he seems to be taunting her, cutting even closer from her hospital to her home. And neither Moore nor Rizzoli can protect Cordell from a ruthless hunter who somehow understands--and savors-- the sectet fears of every woman he kills.First, let me say that this is not one of the books that I would usually read. I usually read YA fiction and things of that nature. The Surgeon was a happy accident and I am delighted that I've found something that peaks my interest outside of my "comfort zone".
